The Climate Majority is already here. It’s you. It’s me. It’s all of us — stepping forward with courage and care, finding joy in connection and standing up for what we believe in and what we love, together.

The recent Climate Change Committee report on the UK government’s lack of preparedness for climate breakdown reveals negligence at a historic scale. 

Insurers should, through their disclosure and lobbying power, play a key role in achieving a safer and more resilient world.  Through disclosure, they can share their vast knowledge about the financial risks of a climate changed world.  Through lobbying, they can advocate for a suite of laws and policies that make the world more insurable in the face of the ever-mounting risks.

Transformative Adaptation is transformative because it is the route to system change. It requires willingness to undertake major psychological adjustments away from what has been ‘normal’.

The SAFER strategy is ambitious, even audacious. But in the face of escalating climate impacts, it’s clear that it is our best chance at building a more resilient future. As Trump takes power again, be empowered yourself… the time to pivot toward a strategy centred on adaptation is now.

Without taking our vulnerability seriously, and protective adaptation as the essential response to that, our government is letting us down.
