Growing food is not about a particular farming practice, says Allen but about a food system that can distribute good food to everyone and not just the well funded. Growing Power, an urban agriculture organization that Allen started in 1993, plans to build the first real vertical farm in the world.
Allen believes we must think about the high population of people that live in and around cities today, because that is where most of the world’s population is moving.
